Dear Friends,
We live in a sick world, where international humanitarian laws have been discarded.
Where humanitarian workers are targeted while trying to rescue babies, children, women and men trapped underneath the rubble of their former homes, schools, hospitals and places of worship… in fact… EVERY part of Gaza, where there is NOWHERE safe and every rule in the book has been disregarded. We have witnessed it ALL live streamed.
The disproportionality is SO extreme. The carnage SO relentless… And ALL this happens with the support and complicity of Western governments. It is a shameful and dystopian genocide and ethnic cleansing.
Every single humanitarian organisation including Medecins Sans Frontiers- Oxfam and Amnesty International is condemning of what is taking place.
Yet ‘STILL it continues both day and night’!!

While in Gaza, crowds of desperate people stand in the rain for hours for whatever they can get in order to survive starvation…
Meantime the bombing, burning, killing and destruction continues each and every day.

Thank you SO much for the outpouring of love on my recent post about my 70th birthday on Dec 25th!
It’s truly moving to know that our/my music has touched so many lives in so many ways and equally moving that the BBC would decide to dedicate an entire night to broadcasting a selection of these moments.

However… I’m actually turning 70 on Dec 25th and the BBC has VERY thoughtfully decided to broadcast a collection of interviews and performances given underneath their hallowed halls from WAY back in the day before we all had handheld gadgets. I’m sure like me, you must be struggling to come to terms with information like this.
Each balloon represents a child who has lost one limb - at LEAST!
I don’t think it’s possible for those outside Gaza to even begin to imagine the devastating pain and suffering innocent children in Gaza are being forced to endure. We can use descriptive words, like ‘apocalyptic’ - and even then it falls short!
That is why it’s REALLY important that we stay with the call for ‘ceasefire’….
What kind of world are we living in that tolerates, pays for and supports this?
Where tens of thousands of children have had their limbs blown off…in hellish circumstances where there is no anaesthetic - No aid..No food…No medical supplies..
What kind of words could even begin to describe these balloons and what they represent???

horror.. Those of us beyond Gaza stand by and witness what’s taking place, while we continue to share - speak up - protest and call the genocide out for what it is.
While the leaders and governments of countries with the power to make this stop, have gaslit, denied , lied and fascilirated this carnage!
1,151 healthcare workers killed over 435 days = 3 every single day.
If this was happening anywhere else, I suspect you’d be reading coverage in every newspaper…
Don’t allow the unacceptable to become ‘normal’!

Today marks the 76th year since the UN adopted the Genocide Convention - a treaty created after the horrors of the Holocaust, to ensure such mass atrocities never happened again.
‘NEVER AGAIN’ it said… but genocide continues till this day.
Please take a moment to read Amnesty International’s report. @amnestyuk
No human being should EVER be treated as ‘sub - human’.
No ‘race’ or ‘population’ should EVER be deliberately ‘decimated’ or ‘eradicated’!
