To mark International Women’s Day,  Annie Lennox released a personal video message calling for an end to gender based violence in South Africa.
Earlier this month Annie took part in a silent protest on the steps of St George’s Cathedral, Cape Town.
In the following days, she released the Make It Happen petition, calling upon Government, Interfaith leaders, Media and Civil Society to take personal and professional responsibility to tackle the issue of  violence against women and girls.
Make It Happen has so far gained support from over 80 signatories including:  The Nelson Mandela Foundation, Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, Elton John Aids Foundation, Amnesty International, Charlize Theron Outreach Africa Project, Oxfam GB and many more significant organisations.
In her video message Annie calls specifically on those in influential roles within society to get involved in leading the change.
