Thank you for sending your thought provoking responses to yesterday’s post.. When I first had the privilege of visiting Brazil and the Amazon Rainforest almost 30 years ago, I was already highly aware of the rampant deforestation taking place, and although the situation had a sense of ‘urgency’ back then, I still had some hope that whoever was in power would make sure to protect this priceless global treasure – the ‘Lung of the World’- it’s indigenous people, plants and life forms.. Now it seems we are past the point of no return. There are people in power intent on wanton destruction, corruption, criminality and ruthless exploitation. And ‘we’ are also all culpable as part of the Global consumerist society. It is so profoundly disheartening to feel powerless to reverse this situation.. All I can do is post/blog and try to spread the awareness..
